Having a Blog Doesn’t Make You a Blogger

With much fanfare, he obtained a domain name, Wordpress software and a web host. He installed the software at the domain named on his web host, flexed his fingers way out at the end of his extended arms and created his first blog - 150 words of mediocre drivel about what was in store for whomever took the time to follow his blog. Then he rested ... for a couple of weeks. Then his friends began asking him when he was going to blog and he found that he had nothing to say.
Sound familiar? Perhaps it describes you. Or me.
Having a successful blog depends on many things - an interesting topic or topics, well-written posts, frequent posts of reasonable length. Reasonable length? Maybe something that can be read and comprehended in 5 minutes or less? Frequent? Every couple of days. Interesting topic? Can't be interesting to everyone. Find your niche (neesh or nitch) and write accordingly.
These are very simple thoughts but it is surprising how many of us cannot or do not implement them. Having a blog and not using it is a waste. Speak up. Today. And tomorrow. Give me 4-5 minutes of good stuff that we are both interested in. And for goodness sakes, proof read what you wrote and use your spell checker.
Do you have a blog that you've neglected as long as I've neglected this one? What are you going to do about it? Tell me! Keep me engaged. Let's chat. Comment on mine and I'll comment on yours.
